Description Ciphergens ProteinChip System, Series 4000 incorporates the critical design features demanded by todays clinical researchers and biologists in biomarker research. The Series 4000 delivers improved performance, offering the fastest route for converting biomarker discoveries to biomarker assays all on the same platform. The Series 4000 is designed to fit into the research plans of any life science laboratory. (PP) The Series 4000 was specifically designed to enable the Pattern Track process of biomarker discovery to assay. The process begins with novel biomarker discovery, to look for differential protein expression between sets of biological samples using Ciphergen ProteinChip technology. Validation studies with larger sample sets select the biomarkers with the highest predictive value. Only after they are validated are the marker proteins enriched and identified using peptide mass fingerprinting. Chromatographic or antibody based biomarker assays are designed and implemented in the final step of the Pattern Track process. (PP) Validating markers up-front saves valuable time and effort compared to methods that only discover whether markers stand up in larger sample populations after assay development. The sensitivity, dynamic range and reproducibility of the Series 4000 enable biomarker discovery and assays directly on a single platform.
