Description In the six short years since publication of the best-selling first edition of Dr. John Walkers widely acclaimed Protein Protocols Handbook, there have been many highly significant developments in protein biochemistry. In recognition of the level of attention currently afforded proteins and the rapid evolution of new methodologies directed to study them, Dr. Walker has completed a substantially updated and enhanced second edition with 164 essential, readily reproducible protocols that yield robust successful results.

The latest edition of The Protein Protocols Handbook introduces 60 critically important new chapters dealing with topics and techniques that have emerged since its initial publication in 1996. The chapters held over from the first edition have been significantly revised as well.

New chapters with proteomic focus
New chapters cover areas of current interest in protein chemistry such as mass spectrometry in protein characterization and the 2-D PAGE technique, two powerful techniques at the core of proteomic analysis. In addition, new techniques for protein staining and analyzing protein blots have been included. The section on glycoprotein analysis has also been expanded, and methods for the production of single chain and phage-displayed antibodies have been added.
