Description In an effort to help promote genomics-based research with S. aureus, Sigma-Genosys has developed the Staphylococcus aureus ORFmer set that contains PCR primers to amplify all open reading frames (ORFs) in the COL strain1. In addition, primer pairs are included to amplify ORFs that are unique to both the Mu50 and N315 strains of S. aureus. The ORFmer set contains primers to amplify all 2,731 ORFs from the COL strain, 357 ORFs unique to the Mu50 strain and 50 ORFs unique to N315 strain. In most cases, the primers have been designed to amplify the majority of the ORF. For longer ORFs, the resulting amplicons are less than 900 b.p. in length, biased towards the 3 end of the gene. Where possible, the primers have been designed to avoid mis-priming with other sequences within the respective genomes.
