Description A simultaneous dual parameter assay for mitochondrial membrane potential detection and poly caspase activity. Active caspases are detected by carboxyfluorescein (FAM)-labelled fluoromethylketone (FMK) peptide inhibitors, which are cell-permeable, non-cytotoxic and bind covalently to the active caspases within the cells. At the same time the mitochondrial membrane potential is visualized by a cell-permeable cationic red fluorescent dye which is accumulated by the mitochondria of healthy but not apoptotic cells. The kit can be used in conjunction with other antibodies or stains. Application: Fluorescence via flow cytometry, microwell plate reader, and microscopy.
