| Description | The HybArray 12™ is an automated hybridization system for the processing of DNA microarrays. The system automates both the hybridization and post hybridization washing of microarrays spotted onto glass slides. A single instrument can process up to 12 slides at a time in pairs and has multi-protocol software, enabling the user to run all six modules with different protocols or all arrays under the same conditions. This instrument is an invaluable addition to any microarray laboratory allowing you to select your protocol, add your labeled target to the slide and walk away, the HybArray 12™ will do the rest. As compared to hybridizing your slides in a conventional manual fashion, the HybArray 12™ will increase your throughput and reproducibility. Comparisons made against slides hybridized on the HybArray 12™ with those hybridized using a manual protocol have found that the results are far more reproducible when the hybridizations are conducted on the HybArray 12™ with very tight CV across the slides. The HybArray 12™ comes with two choices of hybridization areas, the standard area of 18mm by 56mm, or the larger area of 21mm by 68mm. The larger area allows researchers to print more spots on the slide without being restricted to conducting the hybridizations by the manual method. With this increased flexibility, the HybArray 12™ will accommodate microarrays with a variety of geometries. Unlike with protein arrays, DNA arrays require hybridizing at high temperatures, therefore the HybArray 12 ™ have running temperatures from 4 - 99oC with a ramping of 1oC/s due to the use of Peltier Modules. Protein arrays do not require such high temperatures due to the nature of chemistry and these assays typically necessitate the addition of multiple different samples/probes for example sample and second primary antibody for a sandwich assay. Typically, they must use smaller sample volumes than DNA arrays where patient or biopsy material may be limited. For these reasons we therefore recommend the ProteinArray Workstation ™ (PAW) from PerkinElmer Life and Analytical Sciences for protein arrays. Details of this instrument can be found within the main microarray products section of the website http://lifesciences.perkinelmer.com/areas/proteomics/processing.asp . The HybArray 12 ™ fits perfectly with the rest of the microarray product family, with PerkinElmer being the provider of all your microarraying needs from spotting/arraying (SpotArray 24/72) through to scanning (ScanArray Express, Lite or HT) and including the labeling reagents (MICROMAX reagents). | |
