Description Versatile affinity matrix for the extraction of unwanted detergent from solutions containing proteins or other macromolecules
Applications: Reducing octyl glucoside concentration to prevent inhibition of the interaction of pure β-adrenergic receptor and pure nucleotide regulatory protein. Removing residual SDS in 6 M urea/0.05 mM Tris acetate, pH 7.8 containing 0.01 M mercaptoethanol. Effective removal of detergent necessary to recover purified rabbit mammary prolactin receptor. Removing Triton X-100 from a preparation of 5.6S species of Acetylcholinesterase (AchE) before density gradient centrifugation.
Features:
  • Brings efficiency, speed and high protein recovery to detergent removal
  • Allows relatively small detergent molecules to enter the gel matrix, where they interact with a specially developed ligand capable of removing them from solution
  • Low exclusion limit of the base support overcomes the possibility of nonspecific binding by not permitting larger macromolecules to enter the gel; detergent is extracted with high efficiency without fear of losing a valuable protein in the process
