Description The Digital Clamp One can operate as a Voltage Clamp, as a Current Clamp or as a Conductance (Dynamic) Clamp in electrophysiology research applications. Performance in any one mode is as good as conventional analog equipment. This amazing instrument is made possible by very recent advances in the capabilities of Digital Signal Processing (DSP) integrated circuit chips. Until very recently, DSP throughput has not been fast enough to allow capture of and real time feedback calculated from membrane potentials. Equipped with an ensemble of DSP control algorithms and a throughput from 250K up to 1 M samples/s, the Digital Clamp One is a very versatile instrument capable of performing various existing and new experimental techniques. See More Images to the left for traces.Digital Clamp One has been used to stimulate a quiescent neuron whenever a different and active neuron fires, forcing it to fire. One neuron can drive another through the Digital Clamp One. It has also been used in the multiplex mode to stimulate and record through one electrode, making possible a single electrode clamping experiment. An of course is has been used to voltage clamp, then current clamp, the same neuron.Let your imagination plan the new research this instrument makes possible
