Description CromoCenSC is a chromogenic medium for the detection, isolation, differentiation and/or count of Salmonella (except S. thyphi) and total coliforms from other Gram-negative bacteria.

The detection takes a maximum of 24 hours, needs no additional biochemical tests, no sterilization during preparation and performs a higher diagnostic specificity and sensitivity than with the conventional media designed for the same purpose. The Gram-positive organisms are totally inhibited.

CromoCenSC has been tested with good results for the identification of Salmonella non typhi as well as for the total coliform count in clinical samples (faeces); waste water; veterinary products (chicken organs); foodstuffs such as meat products (ham, sausages) and milk and milk products (crude and pateurized milk and cheese).

The diagnostic sensitivity (from 94 to 100 %) and specificity (from 96 to 100 %) for the target microorganisms was achieved within a maximum incubation time of only 24 hours.
