Description The IDS Corticosterone kit is a competitive enzymeimmunoassay (EIA) for the quantitative determination of corticosterone in mouse or rat serum or plasma. Corticosterone is the major, if not sole, corticosteroid in rats and mice, and in most non-mammalian vertebrates such as amphibia, birds and reptiles. Most mammals produce both corticosterone and cortisol, in varying proportions. It is therefore critical to look at relative cross-reactivities of these closely related steroids (differing by only one hydroxyl group at C17) if attempting to differentiate between them by immunoassay. Our assay has a low 0.02% cross-reactivity with cortisol.
