Description The Columbus is a flexible, fully automated microplate strip washer for 96- and 384-well plates. In addition to its fully automated microplate strip washing capability, the Columbus combines high flexibility with excellent performance and ease of operation.

Features

Key features of the Columbus include manifolds of 8, 12 or 16 channels, crosswise aspiration, overflow and bottom washing. This washer can be integrated into Tecans Liquid Handling Systems such as Genesis RMP, Genesis Workstations, Minilyser or MiniSwift. Assay protocols can either be programmed on board or via interface to a PC, using the WinWash software. Up to 30 methods can be stored for easy recall and operation.

Process control

Based on an optional fill verification manifold, a direct control of the wash procedure, a bar code pen and a serial printer, the system provides full process control. An optional liquid sensor system, monitoring the liquid level of waste, wash buffer and rinse solution assures reliable, easy handling of the washing procedures.

Flexibility

Due to a revolutionary liquid handling system that does not apply pressure, this washer is completely independent from different types of bottles, and you can use any available flask for buffers and waste. Also, the Columbus can handle up to 4 different washing buffers at a time, which may also be incorporated in one washing procedure. A fully automatic rinsing program ensures easy maintenance and trouble free operation.

IVD compliance

Columbus already fulfils the new IVD (In Vitro Diagnostics) Directive of the European Union quality requirements enabling operation with optimized data safety and process control as a commitment to patients' safety.
