| Description | Ciphergen's ProteinChip arrays have been developed for affinity capture of proteins from biological samples. A variety of ProteinChip chemical surfaces allow differential capture of proteins according to their unique biochemical properties. Each chip has eight different spots, allowing side-by-side sample comparison, and the chips are color-coded with a unique hydrophobic coating. Ciphergen's proprietary chip technology thus allows the researcher to rapidly capture, purify and characterize proteins directly on the chip. Anionic arrays bind proteins through electrostatic interaction of negatively charged amino acids such as aspartic acid and glutamic acid. Binding occurs at high pH with low salt and binding decreases as pH decreases and salt concentration increases. ProteinChip SAX2: is a strong anion exchange array with a higher-capacity quartenary ammonium surface to bind anionic proteins. |
