AmpliTaq DNA Polymerase is a 94 kDa ultra-pure, gelatin-free, thermostable, recombinant DNA polymerase obtained by expression of a modified form of the Thermus aquaticus Taq DNA polymerase gene in E. coli.1 It is the most thoroughly characterized enzyme available for the polymerase chain reaction (PCR) process and its recombinant nature and purification method provide unparalleled purity and reproducibility, vial-to-vial, lot-to-lot.

The thermal activity profile of AmpliTaq DNA Polymerase is ideal for PCR applications because its optimal activity is in the same range at which stringent annealing of primers occurs (55C75C). The enzyme's half-life is 40 minutes at 95C, providing thermostability that meets the requirements of most difficult PCR applications.
