Description LiCl precipitation offers major advantages over other RNA precipitation methods in that it does not precipitate DNA, protein or carbohydrates. It is the method of choice for removing inhibitors of translation or cDNA synthesis from RNA preparations. Note, LiCl precipitation may not remove all DNA contamination from total RNA isolations. If the RNA is to be used for RT-PCR, it should be DNase I treated.
