Amsterdam, 21 September, 2006 - Elsevier is delighted to announce the publication of a unique supplement to the journal Vaccine: HPV Vaccines and Screening in the Prevention of Cervical Cancer. This special monograph provides a comprehensive and invaluable update for paediatricians, gynaecologists, health educators, policy decision makers, industry and major donor institutions worldwide.

With the arrival of the Human Papillomavirus (HPV) vaccines and the progressive introduction of HPV-based screening technology, the field of cervical cancer prevention is expanding into new areas of influence involving an ever-widening group of professionals. Starting with the offer of HPV vaccines to pre-adolescent girls and the optional vaccination of young and middle-age women, HPV vaccines may in some instances be recommended as a universal vaccine for both genders towards the prevention of cervical cancer.
