"Digital Fingerprinting for Kids" event on April 18 at Pembroke Mall, Virginia Beach

CHESAPEAKE, Va., April 2 /PRNewswire/ -- Turner Network Sales (TNS), the distribution, sales and marketing arm of Turner Broadcasting System, Inc. (TBS, Inc.), and truTV, are partnering with Cox Communications of Hampton Roads to present truTV's highly-regarded "Digital Fingerprinting for Kids" event, a service designed to help prevent crimes against children by offering parents and guardians practical tools that include digital fingerprints and safety tips. The Hampton Roads event will be held on April 18, from 11:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m., at the Cox Kiosk, Food Court of Pembroke Mall in Virginia Beach.

"We are pleased to partner with Cox on this important promotion developed to help parents protect their children," said Gary Brockman, vice president of network marketing and operations, TNS.

"Cox is proud to bring this child safety program to Hampton Roads. Children are very vulnerable and it is important that we take steps to protect them from crimes. We hope that parents take advantage of this free service," said Gary McCollum, Senior Vice President and General Manager, Cox Hampton Roads.

truTV has fingerprinted thousands of children since the program's initiation in 2002. Each child receives an 8 x 10 printout with photo, fingerprints, and personal information such as height, weight, and hair color. Information and fingerprints are strictly for the privacy of the families, and no information is kept on file. In addition, the first 300 kids attending each event will receive a free DNA kit, safety whistle and magnet.

truTV is television's destination for real-life stories told from an exciting and dramatic first-person perspective. Currently seen in over 91 million U.S. households and enjoying more than a year of solid and consistent ratings growth, truTV features high-stakes, action-packed originals that give viewers access to places and situations they can't normally experience. Among truTV's primetime fan favorites are the original series Black Gold, The Principals' Office, Forensic Files, Surf and Rescue, Speeders, Most Shocking, and The Smoking Gun Presents: World's Dumbest. During the daytime, the channel features expert trial coverage under the name IN SESSION.
