Solution Enables Schools to Help Meet Federal Meal Reimbursement

Requirements

WALL, N.J. and FLOURTOWN, Pa., Oct. 20 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- BIO-key International, Inc. (OTC Bulletin Board: BKYI), a leader in finger-based biometric identification and wireless public safety, and identiMetrics, Inc., the leader in providing biometric finger scanning ID for schools, announced today a new release of its already popular biometric finger scanning identity solution that quickly and accurately establishes the identity of students entitled to participate in free and reduced lunch programs nationwide.

School officials anticipate increased participation in the federal government's $7 billion per year free and reduced lunch program as a result of the economic downturn. In order to meet the anticipated increased demand, food service directors nationwide are implementing the identiMetrics biometric student identification system, identiFi(TM), in their cafeterias. This solution, installed in over 1,000 schools in more than 30 states as well as Guam, Australia and Nigeria, works with any cafeteria point-of-sale software. In addition to increasing reimbursements and saving money, especially important in these challenging times, identiFi(TM) can improve the operations throughout the school. Utilizing BIO-key's award winning VST(R) biometric technology, the system delivers rapid, highly accurate and secure student identification, eliminating the need for students to present ID cards, remember passwords or account numbers. Since no fingerprints are taken or stored, the privacy of the students is ensured.

Jay Fry, CEO of identiMetrics and a former school principal, acknowledges the growing use of biometric finger scanning in schools. "Especially with the need for schools to find additional funding sources, we offer accurate recordkeeping which means timely reimbursement for free and reduced meals. Increased student partic
