eInfochips collaborates with EchoNous Inc. to develop the recently FDA-cleared KOSMOS platform

eInfochips, a leading provider of product engineering services and enabler of digital transformation for enterprises globally, has collaborated with EchoNous Inc. to develop the cloud-based connected health KOSMOS platform that has been cleared by the FDA. It can measure systolic heart function, which has been clinically tested versus expert measurements, yielding improved results in precision and consistency.

KOSMOS’ handheld probe and proprietary clinical viewing tool (tablet) can move quickly and easily through busy hospital wards. Its hospital-grade materials can withstand frequent disinfection with harsh cleaning chemicals, making KOSMOS not only an excellent imager of the torso but also a time-efficient tool in overwhelmed emergency rooms and ICUs that are desperate to shrink the infection footprint quickly.

The KOSMOS platform includes an 8-ounce ultrasound-imaging tool with custom-designed ASIC, synchronized ECG and digital auscultation, and a proprietary tablet featuring the Qualcomm® SDA835 System-on-chip (SoC) built to withstand heavy use in clinical settings while protecting patient data.

The eInfochips team created a cloud platform to enable deep-learning algorithm development. The team also worked on software tools and applications that make the platform easy to use.

eInfochips also helped develop a scalable remote device management platform that enables rapid provisioning and management, including over-the-air firmware updates, of the devices in the field. In addition, the eInfochips team has contributed to the device firmware and implementation of the user interface.

Both applications leverage the Microsoft Azure cloud platform and its IoT services to provide edge-to-cloud solutions that empower customers such as EchoNous to seamlessly build, deploy and scale connected healthcare solutions.

“This marks an important milestone in our relationship with EchoNous Inc. Our experience with silicon, embedded and digital technologies, coupled with our cloud collaboration with Microsoft Azure and work with Qualcomm Technologies, helps ensure that we deliver solutions that get our customers to market faster,” said Parag Mehta, chief business development Officer, eInfochips.

eInfochips has extensive experience in developing FDA Class 2 and Class 3 medical devices for monitoring, diagnostics and imaging, wearable health and telemedicine. It provides HIPAA-compliant medical products engineering solutions and has the required process expertise in IEC 60601-1/2/6, IEC 62304, 510K and ISO 13485.

“eInfochips has been key in complementing our core competencies in ultrasound and AI with their expertise in cloud, embedded and mobile app development. We look forward to the continuation of this collaboration as we expand the clinical value of the KOSMOS platform," said Rama Pailoor, vice president of software and cloud engineering at EchoNous.
