World-class innovation through international cooperation
Date:5/26/2009

Welcome to the Launch Conference of the German EUREKA Chairmanship 2009/2010! The conference, hosted and conceptually designed by the Federal Ministry of Education and Research, will be held on July 6-7, 2009, at Maritim Hotel & International Congress Center in Dresden, situated in the heart of the city, only a few steps away from most sights of Dresden.

The conference will address the current and future opportunities and challenges for Europe's global competitiveness and the potential of international cooperative R&D initiatives to reinforce and enhance the capacity for innovation in Europe. This is to be seen in light of current major trends and issues discussed among industry players, researchers and policy-makers alike, such as an expanding globalisation, the current economic crisis, climate change and energy security, or demographic change, to name just a few.

We expect European and international high-level representatives from industry, the scientific community and governments. The conference is the platform for the German Chairmanship to present the aims and topics of the presidency and jointly discuss these with the audience in a variety of different settings, such as Plenary Sessions, Workshops, and a Panel Discussion. Please refer to the Draft Conference Programme for more details.

The conference is expected to lead to new political and thematic initiatives launched within EUREKA during the German Chairmanship.
