With increasing data breaches, which have created a global market for stolen static data, Validus and HierStar recognized the need to offer a complete and unique range of OTP authentication products to assist companies, governments and individuals in protection from identity theft.

The first complete and unique range of OTP authentication products are:

  • VALIDcard(TM) Biometric: The world's first biometric powered display card that generates an OTP when the registered user swipes her finger over the embedded fingerprint sensor.
  • VALIDotp(TM) Card: Non-biometric powered card that generates an OTP at the push of a button. This card is ISO 7810 compliant to support payment cards and many other market applications.
  • VALIDsms(TM): Mobile phone authentication, where any existing mobile phone worldwide can be used to receive an SMS message containing an OTP. No additional hardware is needed by the end-user.

HierStar, headquartered in Beijing, China, manufactures both OTP powered card products in its Dongguan, China manufacturing facilities. HierStar provides turnkey manufacturing from electronic assembly, card molding, printing personalization and fulfillment. In addition to HierStar's turnkey manufacturing capabilities, it owns significant intellectual property in the areas of low-cost thin flexible LCD displays, manufacturing processes and powered card molding.

"HierStar is a design, engineering and manufacturing company specializing in authentication technologies. Validus is an excellent match as a partner with their bio technologies and software solutions," said Robert Wilson, President of HierStar.

All three products have recently been released to the market and volume production is available for both powered card products.

Validus, headquartered in San Francisco, California, develops and markets its OTP authentication products to a range of companies and governments worldwide. In addition to providing the first complete range of OTP authentication products, it owns significant intellectual property in the form of issued patents and pending patent applications globally, in the areas of biometric powered cards, challenge response powered cards, wireless authentication systems and manufacturing processes.

"Our strategic alliance with HierStar provides an opportunity to work with a world-class engineering and manufacturing team. HierStar has proven to deliver faster development cycles, lower cost manufacturing and increased volume production to support our current and future products," said Travis McGregor, CEO of Validus.
