The Society for Nutrition Education honors nutrition educators

In addition to Dr. Murimi's contributions to nutrition education, she has been committed to SNE as well through her work on various committees, divisions as well as JNEB as an Associate Editor.

"Dr. Murimi truly wants her input on manuscripts to be constructive and helpful to the authors, not just for the publication, but for their careers as scientists," remarks Karen Chapman-Novakofski, RD, LDN, PhD, Editor-in-Chief, JNEB. "Dr. Murimi has been an ardent supporter of the Society and Journal, and will continue to be a leader in the nutrition arena."

Journal of Nutrition Education and Behavior Best Article and Best Great Educational Material (GEM)

These annual awards recognize authors of the article and Great Educational Materials (GEM), published each year in JNEB, voted "best" by members of the JNEB Board of Editors. The Best Article Award was presented to authors Karen Weber Cullen, DrPH, RD, Kathleen B. Watson, MS, Agueda Lara Smalling, BSN, MPH, Debra Reed, PhD, RD, Debbe Thompson, PhD, Karen Konzelmann, MS, CHES, for their article, "Creating Healthful Home Food Environments: Results of a Study with Participants in the Expanded Food and Nutrition Education Program," published in the November 2009 issue of JNEB.

The Best GEM award was presented to Richard R. Rosenkranz and David A. Dzewaltowski for "Promoting Better Family Meals for Girls Attending Summer Programs," published in the January 2009 issue of JNEB. GEM's are resources developed to educate on certain topics or distribute programs to help in the nutrition education field.
