The 2013 International Conference on Genomics in Europe will take place in Ghent, Belgium

Professor Hans Galjaard, Chairman of the Department of Clinical Genetics at Erasmus University, Netherlands, said, "In 1983 I visited China for the first time as a member of a small U.N delegation to discuss human reproduction and preventive genetics. Remembering the facilities then available it is impressive how genomics research has developed to a high standard. Also from the beginning of this century public debates were organized about the psychosocial and ethical aspects of the new technologies.
