KNOXVILLE, Tenn., Dec. 20, 2010 /PRNewswire/ -- TeamHealth Holdings, Inc. (NYSE: TMH), received a 2010 Apex Award for enhancing its "LiveWell" company wellness program.
The Apex Award, an honor given by health and well-being company UnitedHealth Group (NYSE: UNH), is presented to employers in recognition of exceptionally innovative solutions to healthcare challenges.
LiveWell was created to help TeamHealth employees adopt healthier lifestyles and reduce their medical costs. TeamHealth was one of seven organizations in the nation to receive the award.
TeamHealth developed a new strategy that includes an online health risk assessment linking employees to appropriate exercise, nutrition and weight-loss programs and information. The new LiveWell website offers expanded disease management programs for employees with diabetes, asthma and cardiac conditions, as well as information on how to access biometric screenings and flu shots.
Since the launch of the enhanced wellness program, 160 employees have stopped smoking through the tobacco-cessation program, and more than 80 percent of eligible women have participated in the healthy pregnancy program.
