Springer teams up with Island Press
Date:6/21/2011

Springer has entered a partnership with Island Press, the leading nonprofit environmental publisher, for the distribution of their titles electronically for the next two years. In this agreement, Island Press books will be featured in Springer's award-winning eBook Collections of scientific, technical and medical publications on www.springerlink.com. The collaboration will allow Springer to use its long-term library relationships as well as its international sales and marketing teams to open up the global institutional market to the Island Press publishing program.

The partnership will promote the work of Island Press' prestigious author list that includes internationally recognized water expert Peter H. Gleick, ecological champion David W. Orr, and sustainable community authority Timothy Beatley. The collaboration, beginning this copyright year, includes approximately 20 new Island Press titles annually in Springer's Earth and Environmental Sciences eBook Collection. Island Press will continue to distribute print and individual electronic versions of these titles.

Catherine Cotton, Senior Publishing Editor in Life Sciences at Springer, said, "Island Press is well known worldwide for its excellent books on ecology and the environment, and we are absolutely delighted to be able to include these titles in our Environmental eBook Collection."

Brian Weese, Marketing Director at Island Press, added, "Island Press works tirelessly to provide the newest ideas and information in the field to those seeking to understand and protect the environment and create solutions to its complex problems. By including Island Press titles in Springer's eBook Collections, this exciting collaboration will contribute to achieving that goal, facilitating wider access both to Island Press's content and to our excellent stable of authors."
