Date:3/19/2013

mutation in the gene that encodes a protein called cystic fibrosis transmembrane conductance regulator (CFTR), which functions as a chloride channel at the surface of airways and moves chloride out of the cells. This symposium will explore how new animal research has produced novel models that recapitulate key features of CF disease, providing new insights into how CTFR gene disruption occurs and informing new therapeutic thinking that may lead to new treatments. (Monday, April, 22, 3:15 p.m. Location: BCEC, 210BC) (Note: Part of the program, Physiology In Focus: From Animals to Human Models of Disease)
