Parascript Technology Wins Online Signature Verification Competition
Date:8/21/2009

BOULDER, Colo., Aug. 10 /PRNewswire/ -- Parascript, LLC, the image analysis and pattern recognition technology provider, today announced that its SignatureOnline was awarded best performance for online signature verification at the tenth International Conference on Document Analysis and Recognition (ICDAR) in Barcelona, Spain, held July 26 - 29, 2009. Parascript was among 12 participants from eight countries representing a total of 15 online signature verification systems. SignatureOnline delivered the lowest Equal Error Rate (EER) at 2.85 percent, and performed significantly better than the others, as the next best rate from a competitor was 8.33 percent (the lower the EER value, the higher the accuracy of the biometric system). The results indicate that Parascript signature authentication technology is able to support forensic handwriting experts to formulate the strength of evidence for court proceedings.

At present, forensic signature verification is performed through visual examination by trained forensic handwriting experts without reliance on computer assisted methods. Participants were provided with an online signature database containing both genuine and forged signatures, and were required to distinguish genuine from forged based on only one reference signature.

"We are very pleased with the results from the competition conducted by the Netherlands Forensic Institute and look forward to continuing to apply the benefits of our technology to forensic handwriting analysis," said Alexander Filatov, senior vice president for Parascript. "Parascript is proud to offer products that respond to the many diverse needs in signature fraud detection."

Parascript's SignatureOnline combines multiple engines that analyze temporal biometric characteristics such as speed, acceleration, deceleration, stroke sequencing and length, pen pressure a
