PM360 Names Pharmafusion One of the Most Innovative Startups of 2019
Date:12/18/2019

PM360, a leading trade magazine for marketing decision makers in the pharmaceutical, biotech, medical device, and diagnostics industries, has named Pharmafusion LLC as one of the most innovative startups of 2019. This latest recognition caps off an impressive year for the company and its founder/CEO Jonathan Retano. Earlier in the year, Pharmafusion was featured as one of the “Top 10 Analytic Solution Providers” in pharma by Pharmatech Outlook Magazine. During the same timeframe Retano was featured in Global Business Reports “United States Biopharmaceuticals 2019” special issue highlighting U.S.-based industry innovators. These distinctions were followed by Acquisition INTL magazine’s “2019 Global Excellence Awards ‘Best Business Analytics Solutions Provider for Pharmaceuticals 2019 – Pennsylvania.’”

“It's tremendously gratifying to receive recognition for the work we’ve poured ourselves into,” notes Retano. “For us, this is beyond what many would consider a job. We have a deep-seeded passion for what we do and continually strive to improve.”

Retano describes the Pharmafusion360° platform as an asset comparable to Smart TV for pharmaceutical and biotech analytics, with multiple channels covering a vast array of datasets on a single integrated cloud-based platform. There are channels for marketing, field sales, managed-care, trade clinical, regulatory, business development, finance, and more. Once the datasets get integrated, new insights can be derived by combining previously disparate information. The platform cost-effectively provides easy-to-interpret visualizations and dashboards, empowering “C-suite” leaders and other users to discern real-world business insights while leveraging data for smarter and quicker decision-making.

“Our entire business model is built on having a complete, single integrated, turnkey solution and customizing our offering to meet the needs of our client partners,” says Retano. “Having nearly 20 years’ experience on the corporate side of the pharmaceutical industry, I understand the necessary information leadership teams rely on to successfully operate their companies.”

From a broader perspective, as technology continues to advance at an ever-increasing pace, the pharmaceutical industry has traditionally been a relatively slow adapter of change. Increased competition within the industry forced that trend to begin shifting around 2017, and according to Retano this past year there has been a dramatic increase in the level of confidence industry leaders place on what data analytics and technology can do for a company’s operations.

“An explosion of analytics is coming to the forefront of the current pharma commercialization conversation,” says Wayne Eckerson, President of Eckerson Group. “I’ve been familiar with Jonathan and his award-winning, innovative approach for more than 10 years. He clearly is a pioneer and innovator in this arena. It’s great to see the industry finally catching on.”

According to one of Pharmafusion’s more recent client partners, “Pharmafusion’s craft data on tap, paired with Jonathan’s expertise, provides insight to the ever-changing Pharma landscape. Pharmafusion is a valuable resource that has become an extension of our team.” Noted another, their internal team was blown away by the data and the “stories” that data was telling them.

“What Pharmafusion has built for our organization is beyond what we could have imagined,” states Pharmafusion client Ed Sadowski, R.Ph., Chief Operating Officer, Transition Patient Services. “It has quickly become our Bible. It has completely transformed our organization and allowed us to look at our
business in new ways that are translating into business growth. Connecting with Pharmafusion has dramatically moved the needle for our business.”

For this most recent recognition, Pharmafusion was selected as part of PM360’s “8th Annual Innovations Issue” published each December. This issue was established to serve as a guide to the year’s most innovative Companies, Startups, Divisions, Products, Services, and Strategies from within the healthcare and life sciences industries. This comprehensive overview of the year’s most innovative achievements in these six categories helps other companies in the industry find potential partners and offerings that can help them advance healthcare and life sciences.

Looking to the future, Retano’s long-term vision for Pharmafusion is to continue garnering constructive input from industry experts and improve the platform to serve any new challenges in the industry such as artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning. He also plans to enhance some of the analytic visuals ensuring that Pharmafusion360° becomes the gold standard in analytics for pharmaceutical companies of all sizes and at all stages of commercialization.
