Other features include a disease finder, an illustrated glossary, a photo gallery, and a section on Phytophthora "basics" to help inform non-experts. A searchable reference system with links to scientific publications is also available. The website is paired with a newly created open access scientific journal, Forest Phytophthoras (www.journals.oregondigital.org/ForestPhytophthora/issue/current).

"Of all types of plant pathogens, fungi, bacteria, viruses, the Phytophthora are among the most damaging, and are very difficult to combat," says Susan Frankel, a biologist at the Pacific Southwest Research Station. "With this website and journal, we aim to improve communication needed to get ahead of this battle to protect our natural resources."
