New Jersey's 2008 Annual State of the Shore report, May 22

HOBOKEN, N.J. -- On Thursday May 22, 2008, Dr. Jon Miller of Stevens Institute of Technology and the Coastal Process Specialist for the NJMSC/NJ Sea Grant Program will present the 6th annual State of the Shore report on the condition state of NJ beaches, as we head into the peak Jersey Shore tourism season. Speakers will include NJDEP Commissioner Lisa Jackson, Secretary of Agriculture Charles Kuperus, Dr. Michael P. Weinstein, President of the New Jersey Marine Sciences Consortium and Nancy Byrne, Executive Director of NJ Travel and Tourism.

The 2008 NJ: The State of the Shore Media Event will offer two additional news breaking announcements: the winners of the 2008 NJ Top Ten Beaches Survey and the first two recipients of the Stew Tweed Fisheries and Aquaculture Scholarships.

Members of the media will have an opportunity to interview the speakers, beach survey award winners and scholarship recipients. It will also provide the media and guests with an opportunity to network with develop future sources for information about specific marine and coastal topics.

The press event, sponsored by the New Jersey Marine Sciences Consortium and Stevens Institute of Technology, will take place on the beach at The Sea Gulls Nest, Parking Area D at Sandy Hook, N.J. Copies of the NJMSC Annual 2008 State of the Shore Report will be available as well as coastal press kits containing publications and resource materials developed specifically for the event.
