TAMPA, Fla., May 10, 2013 /PRNewswire-iReach/ -- The National Association of Specialty Pharmacy™ (NASP™) and the American Society of Consultant Pharmacists (ASCP) announced today that representatives from the organizations will start discussions about the role specialty pharmacy plays within the aging market during the upcoming ASCP Spring Conference in Orlando, May 14 – 17, 2013.

The increase in the use of specialty drugs is well documented in the aging population. A 2013 Managed Health Care Associates (MHA) Independent Long Term Care Member Study showed growth in prescription count among specialty categories within long-term care pharmacies from 2011 to 2012 which included:
