Issue 1 of Energy and Environmental Science published on Web
Date:7/23/2008

RSC Publishing today announced the online publication of the first issue of Energy & Environmental Science, a new interdisciplinary journal for the scientific community.

Free for all to read online, this inaugural issue contains articles on solar cells, hybrid fuel cells, hydrogen storage, thermochemical biofuel production, sustainable energy, and much more. Authors from around the globe have submitted work of the highest quality, knowing that they can rely on RSC staff for overseeing a rigorous peer-review process, efficient manuscript handling and rapid publication.

In addition, they can be confident that the free online access to the latest issue of the journal gives their work the best possible visibility in the community.

In his Editorial, chair of the editorial board Nathan Lewis comments: 'Progress in transitioning to a globally scalable and sustainable energy system is a world-wide problem and demands contributions from scientists, engineers, economists, policy makers, and decision makers around the world. Rapid progress on this urgent issue depends on the integration of perspectives in all of these areas, which is the underlying and unique charter of Energy & Environmental Science as a leading, interdisciplinary journal.'

Dr Robert Parker, Managing Director of RSC Publishing added: 'Research in the chemical sciences underpins all the work that is so important to the future of our world. RSC Publishing recognises the significance of this area by publishing Energy & Environmental Science.'
