Improved Authentication and Confidentiality Protection. ICAP Patent Brokerage Announces for Auction Important Patents in Data Encryption and Document Security
Date:3/15/2012

are used like tokens or passports to access Internet signature servers, thus obviating passwords and counteracting the increasingly crippling effect of keystroke loggers.
  • Digital certificates of users for access can be enhanced with biometric information, or requiring secondarily a passphrase.
  • Claims for this patent potentially encompass a number of types of signature methods in use today for certified email and contract signings but with the addition of a client side certificate requirement to enhance security.
  • A second patent covers a complementary signature method, where an Internet server uses a symmetric key seeded with transaction specific information. The combination of asymmetric and symmetric ciphers to sign is virtually impregnable to attack, since two types of ciphers are used together, and breaking the encryption of one yields only unreadable characters of the other.
  • A third patent enables the use of an Internet server to encrypt messages for transmission over insecure networks using only encryption features of the Adobe Acrobat® Reader.
  • Market Potential
This is important strategic IP for the wide range of companies that deal with documents and data transmission and have a need for security and confidentiality.

Companies who have cited this patent portfolio include:
Oracle, IBM, Adobe, Bank of America, Western Union, Hewlett-Packard, Fujitsu, Agere Systems
