Date:3/6/2008

HONG KONG, March 6 /Xinhua-PRNewswire/ -- Futronic Technology Company Limited, a global provider of biometric software and hardware products, announced that its new FS88 USB2.0 Fingerprint Scanner was certified by FBI to be compliant with PIV-071006 Image Quality Specification for Singer Finger Reader. This means that FS88 meets the US Federal Information Processing Standard 201(FIPS 201) for Personal Identification Verification (PIV) of Federal Employees and Contractors. The FIPS 201 was developed by National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) in response to Homeland Security Presidential Directive 12 (HSPD-12). It is for improving the identification and authentication of Federal employees and contractors for access to Federal facilities and information systems. After FBI certification, FS88 is listed in the US General Services Administration (GSA) FIPS 201 Evaluation Program Approved Product List.

With Futronic proprietary advanced CMOS sensor technology and precise optical system, FS88 meets rigorous requirements on fingerprint image quality of PIV-071006. Its finger scanning window is crown glass with a thickness of 14mm that resists scratches and other stress to ensure long term heavy duty usage. It provides a cost effective solution for border control, identity card, driver license, voter registration and any type of civilian AFIS applications that need superior finger image quality for accurate authentication.
The following are some FS88 unique features:

-- Finger scanning window size is 16.26 x 24.38mm

-- Image resolution is 480x320 pixels, 500 DPI

-- Live Finger Detection (LFD)

-- With 16K Byte memory for application-specific data storage

-- Small size, 66 x 66 x 29 mm

-- Light weight, 150 gram

YM Jiang, Futronic's Vice President of Marketing stated, "We are pleased that FS88 passes PIV-071006 certification. It is an affirmation of our long term dedication to product development.
