FISO Technologies Launches the FOP-M200, the Smallest Commercially Available Pressure Transducer
Date:5/8/2019

FISO Technologies proudly presents the innovative FOP-M200, its new small sensor, with a diameter of 200 microns and a lead-in fiber of 100 microns. With dimensions smaller than any competitive product, FISO is once again establishing the new industry standard and positioning itself as the world leader in the development of fiber optic sensors & signal conditioners used in medical, energy, process control, and R&D applications.

“We’re happy to introduce the FOP-M200 to our customers and partners. The tiny footprint of the sensor-head enables access to smaller vessel without limiting the natural blood flow. With a maximum diameter reduction of 0.003’’, the area is reduced by more than 40%; allowing an accurate and true measurement of the pressure without disturbing the flow and without affecting the pressure. Furthermore, such a small footprint allows engineers to design drug delivery catheters with in situ pressure measurement without restricting the drug flow in the lumen,” says Audrey Quirion-Pleau, Medical Application Specialist at FISO.

Key Product Features:

  • Small lead-in fiber allowing the FOP-M200 to fit in a smaller lumen
  • Very “soft/flexible” lead-in; limiting negative effect on stiffness of catheter/wire
  • Same great performance as previous existing generation (high accuracy, low drift and thermal sensitivity)
  • Best suited for EN60601-2-34 and BP-22 systems
  • Same proven technological platform as FOP-MIV and FOP-M260 sold and integrated in multiple FDA approved devices

Maxim Vachon-Savary, Sales & Marketing Director at FISO says innovation is the highest priority at FISO, and the new FOP-M200 is leading edge technology. “With such a small diameter, very soft characteristic and not prone to kinking; medical device design engineers are for once not restricted by the sensor. This device performs great in deliverability and support while delivering amazing pressure data. The unique mechanical performance of the optical fiber, with its great flexibility and intrinsic immunity to RF and MW present high value and performance.”
