Colorado Marijuana Task Force Gives Green Light To "Pot Tourism"
Date:2/20/2013

HOLLYWOOD, Calif., Feb. 20, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- Medbox, Inc. (OTC Markets: MDBX) (www.medboxinc.com), announced that their patented dispensing technology will be crucial in implementing the Colorado marijuana task force's recommendations regarding "pot tourism."

On Tuesday, the task force recommended marijuana be made available to tourists over the age of 21, though in stricter quantities than will be available to in-state residents. Representative Dan Pabon (D), who sits on the task force, argued that "…imposing a residency requirement would almost certainly create a black market for recreational marijuana [in Colorado]," which is precisely what supporters of Amendment 64 are aiming to eradicate. In order to prevent drug traffickers from exploiting the system, buying caps for visitors are seen as imperative. "Marijuana purchased in Colorado must stay in Colorado," Pabon warned.

Though no specific limits for tourists have been recommended yet, they could end up being as small as an eighth of an ounce of marijuana per person; while in-state residents are permitted up to one ounce under the voter-approved measure passed last fall.  "Putting in place a two-tiered system for the sale of recreational marijuana will place additional burdens on retailers who must demonstrate compliance and transparency with regard to how much product they are selling to which customers," said Medbox CEO Dr. Bruce Bedrick , who presented to the panel last week. "Whether it be through a biometric database, a state-issued ID scan, or a combination of both, Medbox has the solutions in place, ready to be implemented from day one."

Dr. Bedrick will appear on Fox News Denver (KDVR) tonight alongside a dispensary operator that utilizes Medbox technology to manage her day-to-day operations. "Medbox is proud to assist people to conduct their business in the most responsible and efficient manner possible," said Dr. Bedrick.
