Back to the future: EPA's top scientist and Ben Franklin to talk on science and innovation

WHAT: EPA's top scientist and the 'father of green chemistry' Dr. Paul Anastas, will be talking with our nation's first preeminent scientist and inventor Benjamin Franklin as part of a science education event of the Philadelphia Science Festival. Park visitors and local college and university students will join the scientists' conversation on innovation and invention, and how the current generation can contribute to science and engineering.

WHEN: Noon to 1p.m., Thursday, April 21

WHERE: Independence National Historic Park
Independence Mall in the first block next to the Liberty Bell
Rain location: Independence Visitor's CC Theater

WHO: EPA Assistant Administrator for Research and Development and EPA's Science Advisor Dr. Paul Anastas
Founding Father, Benjamin Franklin (Ralph Archbold will portray Ben Franklin)
EPA mid-Atlantic Regional Administrator Shawn M. Garvin
Independence National Historic Park Acting Superintendent BJ Dunn
Philadelphia Postmaster Joseph P. Kinney

VISUALS: The U.S. Postal Service will unveil its new "Go Green" stamp pane encouraging citizens to take action to protect our planet.
At 11:30 and 1 p.m hands-on "green" science experiments to be demonstrated by EPA and Franklin, so before and after 'the conversation'
At 1:45 p.m. in Franklin Court there will be an open house for children to hear from Ben Franklin and EPA - - they can also write their own messages on postcards with images from the new 'Go Green' stamps and mail them at the B. Free Franklin Post Office in Franklin Court.
