3Bar Biologics and Pivot Bio Help Farmers Increase Crop Productivity and Decrease Need for Fertilizer
Date:3/18/2019

3Bar Biologics, the cutting-edge biotech company and Pivot Bio, the leader in microbial solutions announce today they have entered into an agreement for 3Bar to provide a proprietary delivery system for Pivot Bio PROVENTM, Pivot Bio’s breakthrough product for biologic nitrogen fixation for corn. This agreement ensures an easy-to-use solution for delivering a sustainable nitrogen source to U.S. farmers.

“We’re pleased to work with 3Bar to deliver our inaugural product to farmers,” said Karsten Temme, Ph.D., CEO & co-founder of Pivot Bio. “Our product is now shipping to farmers across the Midwest who are looking for a reliable source of nitrogen that improves their bottom line and helps increase the sustainability of their operation.”

Pivot Bio was founded in 2011 and announced in October 2018 a $70 million Series B funding round led by Breakthrough Energy Ventures and Singapore-headquartered investment company, Temasek.

“By combining Pivot Bio’s innovative nitrogen-producing microbes with 3Bar’s proprietary packaging to activate and grow fresh microbes on-site, we are helping farmers maximize the quality and performance of their biological products,” said Bruce Caldwell, founder and CEO of 3Bar Biologics. ?“This product is a game changer for the agriculture industry, and we are thrilled to partner with a like-minded company like Pivot Bio that is focused on improving crop productivity, while also improving sustainability.”

3Bar Biologics has developed a first-of-its-kind package and delivery method that opens the door for microbes proven in research but never successfully commercialized. To keep up with growing demand for its product development services and unique microbial delivery concept, 3Bar doubled its team in 2018 and expects it to double again in the year ahead.
Leaders from both 3Bar and Pivot Bio are attending World Agri-Tech Innovation Summit in San Francisco March 19 & 20.
