Date:1/9/2013

(9 January 2013) The microbial communities that reside in the human gut and their impact on human health and diseases are an expanding area of research full of exciting discoveries with potential medical applications. To keep themselves up to date on the most recent advances in the field, scientists and health-care professionals will come together at the 2nd Gut Microbiota For Health World Summit, which is hosted this year by the Gut Microbiota & Health Section of the European Society of Neurogastroenterology and Motility (ESNM) a member of United European Gastroenterology (UEG) and the American Gastroenterological Association (AGA), with the support of Danone Dairy.

Among others, the following questions will be dealt with in lectures, workshops and poster sessions:

  • In what way does the gut microbiota influence functional bowel disorders?
  • How is the gut microbiota involved in the development of the metabolic syndrome?
  • Can diet and probiotics have a positive effect on mental health?

Save the date: there will be an online press conference in English with gut microbiota experts on Tuesday, 26 February 2013, at 8 a.m. ET. You will receive information on the speakers, their topics and how to register for the online press conference in the coming weeks.
