Package

Package: In recombinant DNA procedures, refers to the step of incorporation of cosmid or other lambda vector DNA with an insert into a phage head for transduction of DNA into host.

A software package developed for interpreting hybridization autorads from high-density grids, gridHyb is used to improve the quality of existing maps, and also in the distribution of Chromosome Library clones based on probe data.

DNA is tightly packaged into structures called nucleosomes, which are consist of 8 proteins called histones and ~180bp of DNA wound in two, tight turns. Each histone molecule has a tail of varying length that protrudes of the core nucleosome.

synthesize and package their neurotransmitter in vesicles for release (by exocytosis) at the synapse
often have "reuptake" transporters that reclaim the transmitter back into the cell when it has done its job.

Right so hemagglutinin has two different functions, both packaged into the same protein. The first function is to attach it to the cell surface, it does that by attaching to particular sugar residues that are always present on all animal cells.

When bacteriophages infect cells, proteins are produced that package replicated phage genomes into new phage particles. In the example at left the lysogenic P1 phage resident in a leu+ bacterium is induced.

Before a virus has entered a host cell, it is called a virion — a package of viral genetic material. Virions can be passed from host to host either through direct contact or through a vector, or carrier.

One of the threadlike "packages" of genes and other DNA in the nucleus of a cell. Different kinds of organisms have different numbers of chromosomes. Humans have 23 pairs of chromosomes, 46 in all: 44 autosomes and two sex chromosomes.

The transfer of any region of the host chromosome into a recipient cell packaged in phage particles.

The salient feature of this phage is that it packages only a single strand of DNA into its capsid.

The "seed leaves" produced by the embryo of a seed plant that serve to absorb nutrients packaged in the seed, until the seedling is able to produce its first true leaves and begin photosynthesis; ...

Cosmids can be packaged in lambda phageparticles for infection into Escherichia coli; this permits cloning of larger DNA fragments (up to 45 kb) than can be introduced into bacterial hosts in plasmid vectors.

stack of intracellular membrane compartments (organelle) that function to modify and package secreted and integral membrane proteins; during spermatogenesis, the golgi apparatus causes the formation of an acrosomal vesicle in the sperm head.

An adaptation for terrestrial plants consisting of an embryo packaged along with a store of food within a resistant coat.
segregation
See Mendel's first law.

Delivery services other than the USPS, such as Federal Express, United Parcel Service, and DHL require a ZIP code for the optimal internal routing of a package.

dictyosomes Organelles in plant cells composed of a series of flattened membrane sacs that sort, chemically modify, and package proteins produced on the rough endoplasmic reticulum. Also known as the Golgi Apparatus. PICTURE ...

glyoxysomes A subcellular microbody present in the cytoplasm of many oil seeds. Enzymes packaged in the glyoxysome convert lipids to carbohydrates during the germination process.
Full article >>>

Chromosomes
Structures in the cell nucleus, each containing the DNA for many hundred genes, packaged with proteins.
Full article >>>

The completed molecules are then packaged into vesicles by the golgi apparatus and move to the plasma membrane where they fuse with the plasma membrane, emptying their contents. Some vesicles such as lysosomes remain within the cell.

: The most popular (and free) phylogenetics program
PHYLIP
can be used to estimate genetic distance between populations. Most components of PHYLIP can be run

The cosmids carry cos sequences from lambda phage so that they can be packaged into phage heads (in vitro ), and circularise once in the cell.
