G1 phase

G1 phase
The first growth phase of the cell cycle, consisting of the portion of interphase before DNA synthesis begins.
G2 phase ...
Full article >>>

G1 phase: a phase within interphase of the cell division cycle that prepares cells for DNA replication.
G2 phase: a phase within interphase of the cell division cycle that prepares cells for mitosis.

They acquire ATP and increase in size during the G1 phase of Interphase. Most cells are observed in Interphase, the longest part of the cell cycle.
Full article >>>

It's a breaking mechanism so that if a cell advances through the G1 phase of the cell cycle, the time between mitosis and DNA replication (S phase), the RB protein will stop proliferation if conditions are inappropriate.
Full article >>>

interphase Period between two cell divisions when a cell is carrying on its normal functions. Long period of the cell cycle between one mitosis and the next. Includes G1 phase, S phase, and G2 phase. The replication of DNA occurs during interphase.
Full article >>>

Sometimes the cells exit the cell cycles(usually from G1 phase) and enter the G0 phase. In the G0 phase, cells are alive and metabolically active, but do not divide. In this phase cells do not copy their DNA and do not prepare for cell division.
