Chromosome jumping
A technique of isolating clones from a genomic library that are not contiguous by skipping a region between known points on the chromosome.

Chromosome jumping: A technique whereby one starts with a piece of DNA from one region of a chromosome, and obtains clones from nearby regions without cloning everything in between (as in chromosome walking; see below).

Linkage studies further narrowed the area to which the NF1 gene could be located, and the Michigan and Utah researchers employed novel techniques such as chromosome jumping (developed by Collins' group) and yeast artificial chromosomes.
