Eclampsia


Eclampsia is a Greek word meaning 'bolt from the blue'. It describes one or more convulsions occurring during or immediately after pregnancy as a complication of pre-eclampsia.

Preeclampsia occurs in approximately 5% of all pregnancies. The incidence of eclampsia is approximately 1 out of 2000 to 3000 pregnancies.
