Aortic dissection, also called
dissecting
aneurysm, is relatively uncommon. Anyone can develop the condition, but it most frequently occurs in men and women in their 60s and 70s.
Full article >>>Aortic dissectionDefinition:
Aortic dissection is a condition in which there is
bleeding into and along the wall of the
aorta (the major
artery from the
heart). This condition may also involve abnormal widening or ballooning of the
aorta (
aneurysm).
Full article >>>Aortic dissection usually occurs in the
thoracic aorta, less often the abdominal
aorta. About three-fourths of
aortic dissections occur in men and in people 40 to 70 years of age.

thoracic aorta begins to "tear" along the longitudinal axis of the vessel.

Dissection means a tear in the inner lining of the
aorta.
Full article >>>An
aortic dissection is an abnormal separation of the walls of the
thoracic or abdominal
aorta.
Aortic dissection results in a weakened aortic wall that may also
rupture.

Aneurysms may develop slowly over many years and often have no symptoms. If an
aneurysm expands rapidly, tears open (
ruptured aneurysm), or
blood leaks along the wall of the vessel (
aortic dissection), the above symptoms may develop suddenly.
