spermatid
male cell that arises by division from a secondary spermatocyte and that later gives rise to a sperm

Spermatid
[Gr. spermatos - seed, semen]. Haploid cell in male testes, formed from spermatocyte by meiosis and will differentiate into a spermatozoon.
Full article >>>

Spermatids are connected together by cytoplasmic material and have superfluous cytoplasmic material around their nuclei.

Spermatid
The term spermatid refers to the haploid male germ cell that results from secondary spermatocyte division. As a result of meiosis, each spermatid contains only half of the genetic material present in the original primary spermatocyte.

spermatid
[Gk. sperma, seed]
Each of four haploid (n) cells resulting from the meiotic divisions of a spermatocyte; each spermatid becomes differentiated into a sperm cell.

spermatid A growth stage of a male reproductive cell arising by division of a secondary spermatocyte; gives rise to a spermatozoon.
spermatium Minute, nonmotile male gametes that occur in the rust fungi.

spermatids
A haploid stage in male gametogenesis.

spermatogenesis
the continuous and prolific production of mature sperm cells in the testis via meiosis.

Then the spermatids differentiate into sperm, losing most of their cytoplasm in the process.

(1) (Zoological) A cell which undergoes meiosis and thereby produces spermatids. See primary spermatocyte and secondary spermatocyte.
Full article >>>

The cell that undergoes meiosis is a primary spermatocyte. The first meiotic division produces two secondary spermatocytes and the second division produces spermatids, which mature to form sperm.
Full article >>>

Seminiferous tubules are inside each testis, and are where sperm are produced by meiosis. About 250 meters (850 feet) of tubules are packed into each testis. Spermatocytes inside the tubules divide by meiosis to produce spermatids that in turn ...
