Pons
The pons seems to serve as a relay station carrying signals from various parts of the cerebral cortex to the cerebellum. Nerve impulses coming from the eyes, ears, and touch receptors are sent on the cerebellum.

The most posterior region of the brain of the developing embryo which is divided into the more anterior metencephalon and the more posterior myelencephalon. It later differentiates into the cerebellum, medulla oblongata, and pons (in mammals).

The cerebellum attaches to the hindbrain in a structure called the pons. The cerebrum and the cerebellum consist each of two halves (hemispheres). The corpus callosum connects the two hemispheres of the cerebrum.

vesicles (bulges) formed from the anterior neural tube. The hindbrain further subdivides into a posterior myelencephalon which will give rise to the medulla oblongata, and an anterior metencephalon, which will give rise to the cerebellum and pons.
