PolyA tail

PolyA tail: After an mRNA is transcribed from a gene, the cell adds a stretch of A residues (typically 50-200) to its 3' end.
Full article >>>

PolyA tails are thought to function in mRNA stability and in initiation of translation.
The formation of proper 3' ends that are polyadenylated is important.

Changes in eukaryotic mRNA, tRNA or other RNAs made after transcription has been completed. The changes to mRNA include addition of a 5'cap and 3' polyA tail and removal of introns, and to tRNA include modification of bases and removal of introns.
