The ovary contains one or more ovules, which in turn contain one female gametophyte, also referred to in angiosperms as the embryo sac. Some plants, such as cherry, have only a single ovary which produces two ovules.

In the first few weeks of development a human embryo develops a sexually indifferent gonad, which can become either a testis or an ovary.
Full article >>>

Fruits are a development of the ovary wall and sometimes other flower parts as well. As seeds mature, they release the hormone auxin, which stimulates the wall of the ovary to develop into the fruit.

Oogenesis occurs in the ovary.
Each of the divisions in humans is unequal. During the first meiotic division, a large secondary oocyte and a small polar body are produced. The secondary oocyte will divide to produce an egg and a polar body.
