Nucleoli are made of
protein and ribosomal
DNA (r
DNA)
sequences of
chromosomes. The r
DNA is a fundamental component since it serves as the
template for
transcription of the
ribosomal RNA (r
RNA) for inclusion into new
ribosomes.

ribosomal RNA (r
RNA) synthesis. The large and small r
RNAs are derived from a single
transcript by
processing.
Oscar Miller observed nucleolar
chromatin spread on grids by electron microscopy.
