Neurons are a major class of cells in the nervous system. Neurons are sometimes called nerve cells, though this term is technically imprecise, as many neurons do not form nerves.

Neurons
A neuron is a cell specialized to conduct electrochemical impulses called nerve impulses or action potentials.

Neurons communicate with one another across synapses. This communication is usually chemically mediated by rapid secretion of neurotransmitter molecules.

Neurons that are part of the nervous system but are not in the brain or spinal cord; usually associated with supplying sensation or motor messages to the skin and skeletal muscles.

Spinal cord motor neurons control voluntary movement by relaying messages that arrive from upper brain centres to the innervated muscles.

Neurons, as do some other cells, they release transmitter. They have their vesicles fuse in response to an intracellular signal, which is calcium. So, normally, the calcium concentration inside a cell is very low. Way, way lower than you could taste.

neurons Highly specialized cells that generate and transmit bioelectric impulses from one part of the body to another; the functional unit of the nervous system.

neuron
(noor-on) [Gk. nerve]
A nerve cell; the fundamental unit of the nervous system, having structure and properties that allow it to conduct signals by taking advantage of the electrical charge across its cell membrane.

neuron: a nerve cell.
neurotransmitter: a chemical substance that accumulates in the synapse and increases the membrane permeability of the next dendrite.
neutrophils: the white blood cells that function in phagocytosis.

neuron A nerve cell that consists of a cell body and its processes.
neuropeptide A hormone produced by secretory nervous tissue.
