Lipase
A Lipase is a water-soluble enzyme that catalyzes the hydrolysis of ester bonds in water-insoluble, lipid substrates. Most lipases act at a specific position on the glycerol backbone of a lipid substrate (A1, A2 or A3).

lipases Enzymes secreted by the pancreas that are active in the digestion of fats.
lithosphere The solid outer layer of the Earth; includes both the land area and the land beneath the oceans and other water bodies.

lipase An enzyme that accelerates the hydrolysis or synthesis of fats.
lipid A fat, oil, or fatlike compound that usually has fatty acids in its molecular structure.

The pH within the lysosome is about pH 5, substantially less than that of the cytosol (~pH 7.2). All the enzymes in the lysosome work best at an acid pH.

Querying with a lipoprotein lipase DNA sequence results in hits that share functional similarity such as DNA sequences coding for proteins that regulate lipid metabolism, membrane and fat interaction and lipogenesis.
