It develops from the blastocoel and is called a pseudocoel.
Some 25,000 species have been identified but this may be less than 10% of the true number.
Most are free-living; found in soil where they are important decomposers.

The purpose of gastrulation is to position the three embryonic germ layers, the endoderm, ectoderm and mesoderm. During gastrulation, embryonic cells migrate through an opening within the embryo known as a blastocoel.

and consisting of a spherical layer of cells surrounding a fluid-filled cavity. The blastula follows the morula and precedes the gastrula in the development sequence. A blastula has around 128 cells, with a large central cavity called the blastocoel.
